National Public Safety Telecommunicators WeekDuring the Month of April, we celebrated National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! We want to highlight our amazing Communications Supervisor Lisa Harrell!
Lisa started with Forney PD in October of 2019 and has almost 13 years of telecommunications experience. When Lisa moved to Texas in 2007, she was inspired to pursue a career in this field from the show Rescue 911. Lisa furthered her career by obtaining a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas at Dallas. When she is not leading our communications staff, she enjoys reading, camping, spending time with friends and family, and teaching martial arts! Her advice to anyone who calls 911 is to cooperate with the dispatcher and answer all their questions.
Thank you, Lisa, for your outstanding leadership and service!

Scam AlertAs a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in unemployment benefits, and the ease of applying for unemployment benefits, there has been an overwhelming number of fraudulent applications completed for unemployment benefits. The Forney Police Department have been receiving a significant number of reports in which victims are being notified by their employers that unemployment benefits have been applied for using the victim’s name, address, date of birth, social security number, and other personal identifiers. Due to the incredible amounts of information required to investigate these cases, the Texas Workforce Commission has established a dedicated team of investigators who are working diligently to combat the rampant fraudulent unemployment benefits claims. The Forney Police Department has been in contact with representatives from the Texas Workforce Commission who have requested all reports be submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission for investigation.
The Texas Workforce Commission has provided the following methods for victims to report fraudulent unemployment claims made in their name: 1. Online: Texas Workforce Commission - Report Fraud 2. E-mail: [email protected] 3. Phone: 1-800-252-3642
If you come to the Forney Police Department and request to file a report, we will provide you with a report number and enter notes into the call; however, the investigation will be worked by the Texas Workforce Commission and you will still need to complete the online reporting system at the direction of the Texas Workforce Commission. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to the contact the Forney Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (972) 552-6297.
