The City of Forney’s Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to introduce Forney Rec Sports, a city-operated youth baseball and softball program designed to provide young athletes and their families with an exceptional sports experience. The program caters to children aged 3 through 14 and offers a comprehensive range of opportunities, including softball, baseball, and coed tee-ball. With seasons scheduled for both spring and fall, the inaugural season is set to commence in April 2024, and early registration is available starting on December 5th, 2023.
“I’d like to thank the organizations and individuals who have played a pivotal role in operating the youth baseball and softball leagues in Forney. The Parks and Recreation Department is excited about the opportunity to provide these sports to the young boys and girls in our community next spring. The goal is simple; build leagues around recreation principles, with increased communication and inclusion, that will all lead to a positive experience for children, parents, and coaches,” stated Forney Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Rouvaldt. “We look forward to providing a great product, at a lower price-point for both residents and community members”, he added.
The Forney youth baseball and softball program relies on the support of volunteers who serve as division commissioners, coaches, assistant coaches, and team parents. These volunteers play crucial roles in dugout assistance and team communication. If you're interested in volunteering for the FRS program, you can easily register as a volunteer during the league registration process. Your help and involvement are greatly welcomed.
In addition, the Forney Parks and Recreation Department will be holding an informational meeting at Forney City Hall (101 E Main St.) on Wednesday, November 15th, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This meeting offers parents and interested parties a chance to gain insights into the program, ask questions, and kickstart the registration process.
