Council Member Jason Roberson has submitted his resignation from Forney City Council to file in the upcoming May election, which will create a vacancy for Place 6. The City Charter requires that any vacancy on the Council caused by resignation be filled within thirty days, for the unexpired term only, and shall be by a majority vote of the remaining Council members, and provided the successor shall possess all qualifications for the position. Those qualifications are:
Applicants shall have resided within the corporate limits of the City, or recently annexed territory, for at least twelve months prior to election day. NOTE: Although you may have a Forney address, if you live in Travis Ranch, Trinity Crossing, Emerald Ranch Estates, Clements Ranch, Devonshire, Highland Prairie, Windmill Farms, Shamrock Meadows or Heartland, those are not in Forney City Limits. You must also be a qualified voter (you live in the city limits and you are a registered voter) at the time of appointment.

Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 1, 2023. The City Council will make the appointment at their meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Please note that this is NOT an application to file for a place on the ballot for the May 6, 2023 election.
