Board of Adjustment
The City of Forney’s Board of Adjustment currently has a vacancy. This position has a term ending June 30, 2020, and the City is seeking applicants to serve on the Board. The Board of Adjustment (BOA) was created for the purpose, in appropriate cases and subject to appropriate conditions and safeguards, of reviewing and making special exceptions to the terms of the Zoning Ordinance and that are consistent with the general purpose and intent of the Zoning Ordinance. The board meet on an as-need basis.
The Board of Directors shall make recommendations to the City Council concerning the administration of the TIRZ. The Board of Directors shall prepare, or cause to be prepared, and adopt a project plan and a reinvestment zone financing plan for the TIRZ as described in Section 311.011, Texas Tax Code, and shall submit such plans to the City Council for its approval. The City hereby delegates to the Board of Directors all powers necessary to prepare and implement the project plan and reinvestment zone financing plan, subject to approval by the City Council, including the power to employ any consultants or enter into any reimbursement agreements payable solely from the Tax Increment Fund established pursuant to Section 6 of the Ordinance forming the TIF (#08-1290), subject to the approval of the City Manager, that may be reasonably necessary or convenient to assist the Board of Directors in the preparation of the project plan and reinvestment zone financing plan and in the issuance of tax increment obligations. There are two vacancies on this Board, both with terms ending December 30, 2022. The board meet on an as-need basis.
The Forney EDC Board currently has a vacancy. This position has a term ending June 30, 2022, and the City is seeking applicants to serve on the Board. The Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) is a citizen volunteer group appointed by the City Council. The FEDC consists of 7 members who are appointed to 2-year terms. Appointment to the board is with the approval of the Mayor and City Council. The EDC promotes and develops business enterprises in Forney as a result of the half cent sales tax passed in 1994. The board meets monthly on the first Thursday of every month.
The FEDC is a not for profit (4B) Economic Development Corporation funded in part by a voter approved one half-cent dedicated sales tax. The FEDC actively promotes Forney for business and commercial development, along with serving existing business and industry both large and small. Since its inception in 1994, the FEDC has helped facilitate the attraction of over $650 million in capital investment and the creation of over 1,000 jobs.
The board meets monthly on the second Thursday of every month.
North Texas Municipal Water District's Board of Directors
The City of Forney is seeking candidates to serve a two-year term as a representative on the North Texas Municipal Water District’s Board of Directors. The NTMWD Board has a responsibility to provide guidance to management and staff and ensure operations run smoothly and in accordance with law.

The Board of Directors meets monthly, generally on the 4th Thursday of each month. The board also meets for special workshops as well as meet on an as-need basis.
Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission serves as an advisory group to the City Council on issues and policies related to planning, land use regulation, and community development. The Commission is directly responsible for making recommendations on plats, site plans, and zoning requests.
