The City will be hosting the inaugural ‘Brews on Bois d’Arc’, a craft-beer inspired, live-music, FREE event, in historic Downtown Forney from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on October 5. The event will highlight the craft-beer trend and showcase several of the amazing breweries that North Texas has to offer. ‘Brews on Bois d’ Arc” will feature some of the area’s most accomplished craft breweries including Community Beer Co., Texas Ale Project, Peticolas Brewing Company and Oak Highlands Brewery. Additional breweries, when added, will be announced in the lead-up to the event.
This event is more than just a wide array of ale, with more than six hours of live music scheduled. As it stands, the City has produced an eclectic lineup of live music that will be playing on the Main St. stage beginning at noon and continue throughout the event. The set list includes local bands ‘Southern Weather’, ‘Webb Avenue’ and headliner ‘Booty and the Hoefish’, along with Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band “Texas Flood” and blues vocalist “Texas Johnny Boy”.
“I am excited to bring a new and different event to Forney, especially in our historic downtown. I want to thank our City Manager, city staff, Downtown Business Association, and Eno's for helping to plan and put this event together. We want to bring new and diverse events to Forney that appeal to everyone in our community.” Said Mayor Pro-Tem Shaun Myers. He added, “Brews on Bois d' Arc is the first in a set of new events we have planned for Forney. I can assure you that the bands we have lined up for this event will bring a level of entertainment to our downtown that Forney has yet to experience.”
Mayor Mary Penn added “I'm excited about the new events that Forney is bringing to our community! Music is the medicine for the mind, and it's always nice to take a break for friendship, fellowship and fun! Looking forward to seeing you there!”
In addition to craft beer and live music, the event will also host a number of local and regional food vendors and trucks along Bois d’ Arc as well as balloon artists and face painters for children. All food and alcohol at the event will be available for purchase. For more information about the event, please visit www.cityofforney.org/brewsonboisdarc.
