As a member of the North Texas Municipal Water District, the city is required by law to adhere to all of the district's water conservation measures. To determine which stage of water conservation Forney is under, please visit the Water Department. City officials will place water use regulation signs at entrances to Forney's residential subdivisions. Forney water conservation regulations include:
- Outdoor lawn watering is allowed year-round, before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m., 2 times each week (unless in Stage 2 drought or higher).
- Residential washing of vehicles, buildings, or windows is allowed using a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
- It is a code violation to allow lawn irrigation water to run onto a street.
