Accepting Ballot Applications

The City of Forney's General Election will be held on May 1, 2021. Places 2, 4, 6, and the Mayor are up for election. A candidate packet is given to everyone who files an application for a place on the ballot and will contain all the information needed to run a campaign. The last day to file an application for a place on the ballot is Friday, February 12, 2021.

Road Repair Survey

The City of Forney is in the process of determining which City-maintained streets will be repaired in the upcoming year and is interested in feedback from our residents!
The information listed in the survey will include the street name, road type, the project square yardage and estimated cost of the project. Residents may submit however many street projects they would like; however, we do ask that the total estimated cost of all street projects selected to be under $1,000,000. Only surveys from residents within the legal city limits of Forney will be considered.

Community Development Relocating

The Community Development Department will be temporarily relocating to the Parks Administration Building (241 S FM 548) during the renovation of the Community Development/Public Works Buildings.

All staff from the Community Development offices will be in the park's building and open for business. Signage has been installed to help inform and guide customers accordingly.

Lagoon Coming to Forney

During the January 19^th Forney City Council meeting, council approved a development agreement between the City of Forney and Bellagio Laguna Azure, LLC for the development of approximately 350 acres of land located southeast of the Forney High School on FM 741. This property will be developed for both single family and multi-family uses, commercial uses, and a public/private lagoon amenity which would be included in the first phase of development.

The lagoon will be available to the public and will include several amenities such as a lounge pool, lazy river, beach area, swim up bar, and a restaurant with outdoor dining!

Dek Hockey Rink Formally Unveiled

On January 21^st, we formally unveiled our Dek Hockey rink with members of City Council and JAC Management. JAC Management, the management company responsible for booking acts for the, made a generous donation that ensured every child is provided with pads, sticks, and helmets.

Adult Softball

The City of Forney Parks and Recreation Department is excited to now offer adult softball leagues for community members. The Co-Ed and Men’s league seasons will begin on March 15 and run through May 3, 2021. Co-Ed games will be held on Monday night’s and Men’s leagues will be held on Friday night’s, with all games being held at Mulberry Park Field #1. Registration is $35 per person. Registration includes all umpire fees and game balls for the season.

Virtual STEM Classes

Exciting News! The City of Forney Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Wize Computing Academy to offer THREE different virtual S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classes for students from kindergarten to 8th grade.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Chief Lunt along with several other first responders from the Forney Police and Fire departments and other members of the 1A and 1B phases received the COVID-19 vaccine from our partners with Terrell State Hospital and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The folks on site delivering the vaccine were professional and kept the system moving forward very well!

First, we encourage and support receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. We understand that many of our citizens have experienced frustration in locating an available appointment. Don't give up and keep trying! As we continue to receive information from the Texas DSHS and Texas Department of Emergency Management, we will update our community with reliable, relevant information.

As you probably know, demand for the vaccine is very high, and shipments have been limited. Many communities across the State and nation have experienced these frustrations. At present, the best information we have to pass along is the Texas DSHS website, which shows all providers where you may be able to register for a vaccine. Again, when we have better information as it relates specifically to our community or local area, we will update you.
