Amanda Lewis was elected Mayor in 2021.
Goals
My goals as Forney Mayor will be focused on fiscal accountability, strategic planning, commitment to first responders, road improvements, and restored relationships. I humbly take on this next role as a 'servant leader’ very seriously and am excited about Forney’s potential with a viable future. Although the Mayor role has been treated as part-time in the past, I am committed to it full-time in conjunction with continued service to my community service groups. Thank you for this honor to serve!
Experience
I have lived in Forney since 2002. I am married to a successful petroleum geologist who serves a dual role as a Christian minister. I have one teenage son and two grown stepsons. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance from Texas Tech University in 1995 and received a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1997.
I have worked at the Dallas County Office of Budget and Evaluation and in the Parkland Health & Hospital System - having left there in the role as its Budget Director and managing multi-million dollar budgets and staff. Recently, I have turned my focus to community service as a Board Director and Treasurer with Sharing the Love Foundation (a youth empowerment group in Forney and Terrell), Board Director and Secretary for the Forney’s Economic Development Corporation, a Board Director and Treasurer with Forney Community Ministries, a Board Director with Hunger Relief Ministries, and previously as a volunteer with the Genesis Center for Women and Children in Crisis in Kaufman, TX.
