About the Corporation

The Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) a citizen volunteer group appointed by the City Council, is a not for profit (4b) Economic Development Corporation funded in part by a voter-approved one half-cent dedicated sales tax. The FEDC has recognized the need to attract business and industry and actively promotes the area to new and expanding businesses.

City Council Advising

The FEDC also acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in matters concerning tax abatement, financial incentives, and all economic development projects. The FEDC has taken on an aggressive role in meeting the explosive demands for increased retail and service activities by working collaboratively with the private sector and City of Forney to develop high quality, sustainable commercial development.

Business Assistance

The FEDC provides long-range guidance and encouragement to existing and expanding businesses which have been the strength of Forney for many years. Looked upon as the marketing arm of the city, the FEDC is ready and eager to assist business and industry in finding space for relocating and expanding in this area which is ripe for development.

Members & Purpose

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) consists of 7 members who are appointed to 2-year terms. Appointment to the board is with the approval of the Mayor and City Council. The EDC promotes and develops business enterprises in Forney as a result of the half-cent sales tax passed in 1994.
