What roads are controlled by the city?
While the City Streets Department within Public Works performs maintenance on over 100 miles of streets within the city, the interstate and farm to market roads (FM) are the responsibility of the State. These State roadways include U.S. Highway 80, FM 460, FM 741, FM 740 to just name a few. We are in constant contact with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on how the city can speed up some of the road expansions that they have planned for our area including Highway 80, FM 548 and FM 1641. The best way for project updates is through the TxDOT project tracker at http://apps.dot.state.tx.us/apps-cq/project_tracker/.
